Wedding gifts should be fun and useful. A fruit basket is a whimsical gift that can be enjoyed on the honeymoon. Adding a few extra items like cheese, chocolate and wine makes it extra special. And the basket can be used for years to come.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wicker picnic basket
  • White tulle
  • One inch white organza ribbon
  • Fruit
  • Bottle of sparkling cider or wine
  • Gourmet chocolate
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Knife
  • Plates
  • Napkins
  • Fluted glasses
  1. Step 1

Pick out a wicker picnic basket. Choose a basket large enough to hold the fruit and any other items you wish to add.

  2. Step 2

Place the tulle in the basket. Fluff it out and allow some to flow over the edges of the basket.

  3. Step 3

Add the fruit to the basket on top of the tulle. Place the heavier fruit--apples, pears, pineapple, mangos--in the bottom first. Next add the smaller and more delicate fruit--kiwi, grapes, bananas, tangerines--on top. Arrange it in a pleasing manner; allow some grapes to drape over the side of the basket.

  4. Step 4

If adding other items to the fruit basket, consider adding large or heavy items first. Place the apple cider or wine lying sideways towards the back, then add the heavier fruits, the smaller fruit, and on top add chocolates, cheese and crackers. Finally add the fluted glasses, knife, plates and napkins. Fluff the tulle up around the edges of the basket once everything is added.

  5. Step 5

Make a bow from the organza ribbon. Attach a piece of florist wire to the back of the bow; attach the bow to the front of the basket by inserting the wire through the basket and winding the ends together. Add a gift card.
