How to Organize a Chest Freezer
Chest freezers are an asset for families who need an extra place to store frozen goods. They come in a variety of sizes which is beneficial if you need the space but can become "lost" at the bottom. Use wire racks. Wire racks are inexpensive and space saving. Purchase wire racks and stack them on the sides of the freezer, against the walls.

Group items. Put like items together and designate a shelf for each groups. Place large items such as meat packages on the bottom and smaller items near the top.

Place according to use. If you have items that you will not use often, place it at the bottom. More frequently used items such as frozen dinners or ice cream should be near the top.

Downsize. If you purchase frozen food in bulk, remove the contents from the original packaging. Place items into smaller freezer-safe bags.

Use the space in the middle of the freezer for storing frozen pizza and whole chickens.
Avoid filling your freezer to the top. Packing too close to the freezer lid may prevent it from closing tightly.
