Instructions

Start with your candle of choice. For a centerpiece with one candle, a pillar candle will look best from all angles. Your candle can be single or multi-colored; the key in making a beautiful centerpiece is to ensure that the colors are all in the same family.

Based upon the color of your candle, choose a shallow bowl or dish of a complementary color. Place the candle in the center of the bowl or dish.

Place chosen objects around the candle in the dish. At this point, the possibilities are endless. Whatever objects you choose to place around your candle, make sure the colors go together and the theme is consistent.

Fresh flowers are always a lovely choice, albeit a temporary one. Dried or silk flowers last longer, of course. A quick and easy way to have a collection of things that go together is to purchase pre-sorted bags of potpourri. Choose a candle, dish and potpourri with complementary colors.

Hot glue seashells, pinecones or large bows to the dish for a permanent arrangement. You may also choose to spray paint objects such as ping-pong balls or small rocks and place or glue them in the arrangement. Working within the basic framework of pillar candle, dish and assortment, the possibilities are truly endless.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be willing to experiment. Finish your arrangement once before you glue it together.

  • If using hot glue, do this away from children.
