Instructions

    • 1

Set up a step stool next to the bed and measure with a tape measure the distance from the ceiling to the point where the canopy should hit. Some people prefer that the canopy hit the floor, while others are content to let it settle just below the top of the bed.

    • 2

Measure and cut the mosquito net to the proper length, leaving an additional couple of inches on the bottom for a hem. Lay the material flat on the ground and bunch the top of it around the bamboo hoop to gauge whether it is too wide. The cloth should lay in folds when suspended, but it should also be able to be drawn back about halfway like curtains. Trim away some material from the width, if necessary.

    • 3

Attach a 4-point light fixture chain to spots on the inside of the bamboo ring. Make sure the chains are spaced evenly to allow the canopy to hang straight from the ceiling.

    • 4

Pin up and hem the top, bottom and sides of the net with a needle and thread. Draw the top edge up over the bamboo ring to the main chain suspended from the ring. Center the material's opening between 2 of the points on the light fixture chain, then gather the cloth into a point and secure the top edge of the material to the chain with a needle and thread. The canopy will look like a turret, with the material flowing from the pointed top down over the ring to the floor.

    • 5

Screw a ceiling hook into the spot where the canopy will be suspended. The canopy would look great centered either over the mattress or over the headboard. Make sure there is ample space for the bamboo ring to hang straight from the ceiling.

    • 6

Hang the bed canopy from the hook by the central chain. Fluff out the material, parting it in front.

Tips & Warnings

  • 4-point lighting fixture chains can be difficult to find. Hanging the canopy with a ribbon or rope is also effective.

  • Never use this type of canopy to protect yourself from mosquitoes while sleeping. This canopy is meant for decoration only.
