Use seashells for place card holders when decorating for a tropical-themed party, a beach wedding reception or perhaps an intimate dinner party. Find your seashells while beach combing or purchase them at your local craft store. No matter where you obtain the seashells, your guest will be enthralled by these place card holders.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 large clam shells per each place card holder
  • Smaller seashells
  • Card stock paper
  • Hot glue gun
  1. Step 1

Clean the seashells if necessary. Wipe off any sand and dirt. If you purchased them at the store, this step won't be necessary.

  2. Step 2

Pick two large clam shells for the base of the place card holder. Lay one shell face down on your work surface; the inside of the shell will be facing down. Place the second shell perpendicular to the first one. Hot glue the hinged side of the top shell to the top of the bottom shell; hold until dry.

  3. Step 3

Decorate the base of the place card holder. Glue the smaller seashells around the base in any decorative form you choose. Use colorful shells.

  4. Step 4

Cut 2.5-inch-by-3-inch piece of the card stock for the place card. Write the guest name on the card with a fine-tipped black marker or calligraphy pen. Hot-glue the place card to the back of the top shell of the base; hold until dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Glue small seashells around the edge of the place card if desired. Use other large shells for the base.
