How to Make a Fresh Fruit Party Tray

If you need a bright, attractive dish for a party or a potluck dinner, consider making a party tray of fresh fruit. A variety of fruit is not only appealing to the eye; it's also guaranteed to tempt every appetite in the room. Things You'll Need

  • 1 lb. seedless grapes, washed
  • 1 cantaloupe, halved and cleaned
  • 1/4 seedless watermelon
  • 3 kiwi, peeled
  • 3 navel oranges, peeled & deveined
  • Melon baller
  • Small cookie cutters

Instructions

      Slice the cantaloupe into 1/2-inch pieces. Then cut the melon into shapes with a cookie cutter and place them in one section of your tray.

      Scoop the watermelon into balls with the ball tool and place them in the second section of your tray.

      Cut the kiwi into 1/4-inch slices. Then cut them into shapes with a cookie cutter.

      Add the kiwi, grapes and orange sections to your tray and cover with it plastic wrap until you are ready to serve the fruit.

      Refrigerate the fruit until you're ready to serve the tray. To keep the tray its freshest, prepare it no more than 12 to 24 hours in advance.

  • Browse your store's produce department for other fruits that might be in season. The scraps of fruit that are left from the cookie cutters can be mixed together for a small fruit bowl or eaten for breakfast. If you don't have a sectioned tray for your fresh fruit, inquire at the deli section of your local grocery store. Most stores will be happy to sell you a tray and cover for a nominal fee.
