Things You'll Need:
- Utility knife
- Grip tape scraper
- Solvent remover
- Rag
- Soapy water
- Drying cloth
-
Step 1
Grip the club firmly, holding it with one hand while you work with the other. You can use a vice grip, but be certain to protect the club with a rubber holder so it is not damaged.
-
Step 2
Use the utility knife to cut through the existing grip, slitting the rubber away from your body.
-
Step 3
Peel the rubber off the shaft.
-
Step 4
Remove the old grip tape with a grip-tape scraper. If you do not have a scraper, you can use a small paint scraper, but it will not offer the same maneuverability as the golf utility tool. You want to be careful not to damage the shaft.
-
Step 5
Use a rag and an adhesive remover or grip solvent to remove the remaining tape and stickiness. A golf-specific solvent can be purchased from your local shop. However, you can find adhesive removers at your local hardware store that will work just as well.
-
Step 6
Wash the shaft with soapy water and thoroughly dry it, and you will be ready to regrip your club.
