Manage Damaged Hair
Manage Damaged Hair

Tips and tricks to manage dull, dry and/or damaged hair.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • plastic shower cap
  • warm towel
  • coconut oil (available at vitamin stores, wal-mart)
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • egg
  • clarifying shampoo
  • conditioner
  1. Step 1

Brush your hair out completely and remove any tangles/knots.

  2. Step 2

Mix coconut oil, 1 egg, extra virgin olive oil and a dab of conditioner to a small bowl or container. There isn't a specific formula but the texture should be on the thicker side.

  3. Step 3

This will be messy so make sure you aren't wearing good clothes. Oils will stain. Grab an old towel and wrap it around your shoulders.

  4. Step 4

Begin applying the mixture to your entire head, roots to ends. Pile your hair on top of your head and put on the plastic cap. You can either wrap your head in a hot towel or apply heat from the blow dryer for 5-10 minutes. (Don't put the blow dryer too close to your head, you do not want it to burn you.) If you wrap your head in a towel, you can leave it on as long as you'd like. If you are using the blow dryer to apply heat, apply for the recommended amount of time and then leave the plastic cap on while you do some things around the house.

  5. Step 5

Once you've let the mixture sit on your hair for a good deal of time (I recommend 2-4 hours) you will need to rinse and wash your hair with the clarifying shampoo. *Apple Cider Vinegar also works as a clarifying cleanser on the hair. You maybe have to shampoo more than once to remove all of the extra oil.

  6. Step 6

This treatment should reward your hair with a great deal of shine and smoothness. Refrain from using heat tools as often as possible to prevent further damage to your hair!
