Lammas or Lughnasadh, marks the middle of summer and the beginning of the harvest season. It is celebrated on July 31st and August 1st. We say goodbye to the sun as he wanes in the sky. But this is not a time for sadness as his seed lives on in the womb of the Goddess.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decorate your home and /or alter with the colors of yellow, orange and green. Use bunches of herbs, grains, ears of corn and small baskets of fruit and vegetables to add to your décor.

  2. Step 2

Enjoy fresh baked bread made with fresh herbs. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy. You can add fresh herbs to frozen bread dough (after it thaws, of course!) Basil, oregano and dill are good choices.

  3. Step 3

For good luck, bury a bottle by your front door. If this is not possible, set a bottle near the door in a place where it won’t be disturbed.

  4. Step 4

Have a feast or picnic with family and friends.

  5. Step 5

Since this is a harvest festival, collect food to donate to a food bank so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of a “harvest”.
