How to Ease Morning Sickness/daytime Sickness

Morning or all day sickness afflicts most women at one point or during their entire pregnancy. Sometimes it's minor or moderate but many have their lives disrupted by it. These are some ways to ease symptoms.

Things You'll Need:

  • Preggy Pops (TM)
  • Club Soda
  • Dry crackers
  • Water Glass/Water
  • Hard Candy
  1. Step 1

    Determine when you are the sickest: Morning before you get out of bed, in the car, before dinner, before bed. Figuring out the triggers or times will help you plan around your sickest times and help decide which will help best.

  2. Step 2

    If you are ill in the morning, before rolling out of bed try eating a few soda crackers and drinking some water in slow, easy mouthfuls. Take your time getting up and move slowly. Stress can make it worse.
    At night, lay down and do the same. Also drinking club soda or tonic water will help ease your stomach.

  3. Step 3

    With mornings and evenings taken care of, eat slowly at meals and avoid heavy or unsettling foods like heavy creams, heavily spiced, and acidic foods. Personal experience told me much of my sickness during the day was forgetting to eat small snacks often enough as well as meals. Drinking water, juice and snacking on fruits helped a great deal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep snack bars or nuts on hand to prevent low blood sugar related sickness.
  • Drink enough fluids; this will prevent illness, infection, boost energy, and help prevent an upset stomach.
  • Popcorn, Preggy Drops, ginger gum, ginger water, ginger ale (Vernors in MI) are all great ways to ease stomach discomfort
  • SEE YOUR DOCTOR if you can't keep a lot down, have excessive vomiting, diarrhea, feel dehydrated, have little or no urination, a fever, or other worrying symptoms. They have pagers for a reason; don't be afraid to use them. ALWAYS consult your doctor.
