Things You'll Need:
- 3/4 OSB, 2X4s, 16-D nails
- hammer, saw, tape measure, chalk line, measuring square
- basic framing skills
-
Step 1
Layout, its important that the plumbing for the new tub will not end up over top of the floor joist, so be sure about where you start the layout so that it don't turn into trouble later. Use a chalk line and snap out the outside line for for tub deck to the floor. (If you don't know how big to build the tub deck standard is 8"+ bigger then the Jacuzzi Tubs outside measurements) Next cut and build some 2x4 top and bottom plates for the knee walls,(the knee walls are the side walls of the tub deck) Place the plates on the floor and mark your stud layout to sit on top of the floor joists below, last add in corner studs.
-
Step 2
Framing, depending on the height needed for the jacuzzi tub (standard being 30") cut out the studs and frame the knee walls. Where the top of the tub deck runs across the wall or walls that run up to the ceiling, snap a chalk line across the walls and nail a 2x4 in flush to the top of the line into every stud with two 16D nails.

Step 3
Sheeting and cutting the Jacuzzi tub hole, the top of the tub deck needs to be sheeted with 3/4" OSB and nailed in with 8D nails. Next get out the template that comes with the tub, set it on top of the 3/4" then transfer the outline of the tub. (the easiest way to transfer it is to use marking paint) Last cut it out.
