When I tasted this appetizer at a recent office party, I went wild for it. I'm not a fan of very sharp cheese nor am I a fan of fruit WITH cheese, but this combo was perfect. LOVED IT! (Did I mention I loved it?). The cheese wasn't too sharp and the figs added just a touch of sweetness. Anyway, it's simple, elegant, and super tasty. Try it and let me know what you think. :-)

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • French Bread (or some other nicely textured bread)
  • Manchego cheese
  • Fig spread
  • Almonds (or other nuts)- Optional
  1. Step 1

Cut your bread into slices. Don't make them too thin. Place in 300 degree oven to toast if you wish. Make sure to watch the bread to make sure you don't burn it.

  2. Step 2

Remove from oven. With butter knife, top each bread slice with a touch of fig spread or mashed whole figs.

  3. Step 3

Slice your cheese in hearty slices. Don't make them too thin. Add a nice slice of Manchego cheese (not cheap but definitely worth it) on top of each slice of bread.

  4. Step 4

Add some almonds (or other type of nuts) if you wish.

    Ta-Dah! Serve and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't buy too much cheese, you'll wind up eating too much like I did! LOL
