Gone are the day's that inmates could send home a mile long list of items they wanted.
You simply went to Target, Kmart, or where ever else gathered up all the items, put them in a box and pulled out your home scale to weigh the package. Hoping it would be 30 pounds or under.
Nowadays in order to send a care package it takes allot less work on your part.
Most prisons allow inmates to receive quarterly care packages containing food, personal hygiene items, and some electronics.

      Ask the inmate that you are interested in sending a package to which company's their facility accepts packages from. Most often there is more than one company.

      Ask the inmate what is the deadline to receive a package for the specific quarter.

      Have the inmate send you or tell you over the phone a list of items that they would like. If they know the numbers of the items from certain company's this makes ordering easier.

      Look online to see if the company(s) have a website. This is where you can begin to compare the prices of the inmates selected items, and save yourself some money.

      Order the inmates care package from the company and be sure to order it by the date specified for the inmate or in some cases the institution may deny the package. Leaving the inmate out a package and you out some money for the cost of the returned package.

      Follow up with the company to make sure the package was sent on time and what if any contents were not included. Make sure you were charged/refunded accordingly.
