How to Repair Laptop Screen

Don't buy a new laptop because of a broken screen, save hundreds by replacing the screen yourself.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • replacement screen
  • small Phillips screwdriver
  1. Step 1

    Locate and purchase a replacement screen from any of the numerous companies that sell laptop screens for your make and model of laptop.
    Make sure to check warranties and the types of screens being offered. Some sale factory replacements and some refurbished types. There is also a choice of types of screen finishes to choose from.

  2. Step 2

    Once you receive the screen, check for damages and take action accordingly.

  3. Step 3

    Now that you have the laptop screen, find a nice flat empty table and start the disassembly. Remove the cover and or screws that conceal the lcd screen. Then take the screws that hold the lcd in place out. Be careful as the screen is still attached by two sets of wires. Unplug both wires carefully. To install the new screen, plug both sets of wires into the new screen. Re-install the screen into the mount. Replace the screen cover.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to keep track of all the small screws as you will need them to put the new screen in.
  • Be sure to have laptop off when performing screen swap.
  • Follow manufacture instruction on where you can and can't touch on the screen
  • Make sure to remove protective plastic cover from new LCD before installing.
