Things You'll Need:
- Red or Pink Construction Paper
- Black Marker
- Red or Pink Gift Bag, (handles recommended)
- Scissors
- Tape or Glue
- Black and white construction paper (optional)
-
Step 1
Use a gift bag as a Valentine's Day card holder.Buy a gift bag. Regardless of size, it needs handles for the child to carry. Allow your child to decorate his own Valentine's Day card holder with stickers, drawings, glitter, etc.
-
Step 2
Craft a Valentine's Day Card Holder Heart Out of Red Construction PaperGet out a piece of construction paper. If you are using a red bag, try to use pink construction paper. If using a pink bag, try to craft your Valentine's Day card holder heart out of red paper.
Fold as if you are making a card for someone, with both sides even. Draw half of a heart shape from the fold. This should cover almost the entire section of the folded half. It needs to be large. -
Step 3
Make a heart for your Valentine's Day Card HolderCut out the heart, where you have marked with a pen or marker. Do not cut down the fold. When complete, open. You should have a heart with two identical sides.
-
Step 4
Draw the eyes and mouth on the heart. Draw a large smile, including a moderate amount in between the top and bottom lip.
-
Step 5
Cut out between the lips, making a hole for the mouth. This is where children will place the Valentine's Day cards into the card holder.
-
Step 6
Add accordion legs and arms. This is optional. Use black construction paper to make the legs and arms.
Fold four 2 inch strips of black construction paper in half. Fold again, and again, until you are left with a small square. Then, unfold and add white hands and shoes, if so desired. Glue or tape to the heart. -
Step 7
Glue or tape the heart to the side of the bag. Once on the bag, cut out a smile where you can see the gift bag between the mouth, making a hole all the way through the bag.
This is where students will place their cards for your child.
