Even though the Olympics are held every four years, with the split between Winter and Summer Olympics, they seem to come around on a fairly regular basis. The next winter Olympics will be held in and around the magnificent city of Vancouver, in British Columbia, Canada. In addition to skiing, skating, luge and a variety of other sledding activities, hockey, biathlon and the (sorry!) silly sport of curling, there will be a host of extreme sports, like snowboarding and extreme skiing, and Winter Paralympics as well. Here's what you need to know to participate.

Things You'll Need:

  • Either a lifetime of intense athletic preparation, or a lot of money for tickets.
  1. Step 1

Head to vancouver2010.com for an overview of the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

  2. Step 2

Subscribe to one or more of the email newsletter updates that are available from the site. They offer general updates, as well as a specific update on Olympic Tickets and Olympic merchandise (such as lapel pins, hats, shirts, and so on).

They also offer updates on two special activities: the Olympic Torch Relay, and opportunities for volunteer activities, both at the Olympics, as well as in community celebrations across Canada.

  3. Step 3

Be an Olympic Torch Bearer. Those who live in Canada will have an unbelievable opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch as part of a planned 100-day, 27,000 mile (45,000 km), 12,000 person Olympic Torch Relay.

  4. Step 4

Download some Olympic screensavers. The vancouver2010.com site offers free downloads of Olympic graphics. Worth checking out.

  5. Step 5
