How to Install Tile Around Toilet

Installing tile in the bathroom can improve look of the room as well as the value of your home.

Things You'll Need

• Wax ring
• Caulking
• Screwdriver
• Small bucket

Instructions

1. First, remove the toilet by shutting off the water valve. Then flush the toilet, disconnect the water supply and remove the bolts that connect the tank to the bowl. Next remove the bolts that connect the bowl to the floor and remove the base.

2. Cover the hole with a small bucket, this will prevent any odor from seeping up. At this point you install the flooring just as you would leaving a hole and room to remount the toilet.

3. Install the new flange bolts on the floor and add the wax ring(must be a new one). Caulk the flange bolts in between the rings and screw them in.

4. Place the toilet back on the flange bolts. Use the washers with the bolts and tighten them with your hand. Put the nuts on and tighten them into place.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure there is no wobble in the toilet, it will cause leak.

• Keep extra tile for possible breaks.

• Do not lift the toilet by yourself, may be heavy.

• Some water may still be in there, so be careful.
