Things You'll Need:
- A comfortable place
-
Step 1
Begin by sitting down and getting comfortable. Being comfortable is the most important thing here, so pick something that works for you – the floor, the sofa, a bed, the bathtub or a nice patch of grass. Some people prefer to sit crossed-legged and that’s fine. But again, the most important thing is being comfortable.
-
Step 2
Close your eyes and relax.
-
Step 3
Quietly repeat a mantra to yourself. “Om” is an ancient mantra that is often used. If that doesn’t work for you, pick something else. You want a sound that vibrates and resounds through your body such as, “m” “n” or “ah”.
-
Step 4
While repeating the mantra, deeply breathe in and out. Take slow, long breaths.
-
Step 5
Don’t worry if other thoughts come creeping into your brain. Just push them aside and turn your focus back on your mantra and breathing.
