Things You'll Need:
- A clear list of which game consoles you're considering
- A list of what is most important to you in a video game system
- Internet and/or magazines for research
-
Step 1
Decide what is most important to you in a gaming system. Is it graphics? Fun games? Do you want a system that the entire family can play, or one designed for the hard core gamer? You need to think this out clearly and honestly before comparing any of the available video game consoles out there.
-
Step 2
After deciding what factors are most important, take a look at several magazines and game reviews to see what fits you best. The Wii is best for families or groups who want to game together and for non-conventional gamers. The PS3 is hands down the most technologically advanced console, and has a Blu-Ray player, while the X-Box 360 is way ahead of both in having a huge variety of high quality games.
-
Step 3
Make sure the system has the types of games that you enjoy. If you like RPGs, then you might want to consider a different system if you only like sports games, or Mario games, or shooter games, or whatever.
-
Step 4
Figure out the best balance, and consider getting an older system. PS2 has been voted in back to back years as the best overall deal for gamers: the best combination of price, games available, graphics, etc. For many gamers the PS2 is enough, and for others the right video game system is something else.
-
Step 5
Add everything up and compare to figure out what video game consoles are best for you. It may turn out that a system you thought was a third or fourth option is better for what you want out of gaming than that shiny new console that you've really had your eyes on recently.
