You can obtain Feng Shui certification from any of a number of Feng Shui schools. It is possible make a good living as a Feng Shui consultant working with designers, builders, landscapers, and furniture stores to help clients create harmony in their homes or businesses. Having a Feng Shui certification can help you become a reputable consultant. While there are no national or state requirements to be a Feng Shui consultant—anyone can call herself a Feng Shui practitioner with no formal training at all—having a certification gives you added credibility and may help you get clients.

  1. Step 1

    RESEARCH. First you need to do some research and decide which type of Feng Shui you want to study. There are really four different Feng shui schools: Classical Feng Shui, Compass School Feng Shui, Western Feng Shui/BTB (Black Hat Sect Tibetan Buddhist), and Form School Feng Shui. Each school approaches Feng Shui a bit differently.

    Consider specializing in a certain type of Feng Shui such as Feng Shui for the home.

    GO TO SCHOOL. To obtain Feng Shui certification, you’ll need training from a Feng Shui school. There are several Feng Shui schools across the country offering practitioner certification. Prices for certification range from $300 to $7000, depending upon the length of the program and the quality of the instructors. Before you make an investment in yourself, interview the schools to be sure you’re getting the quality of instruction you want.

  3. Step 3

    NETWORK. After you obtain Feng Shui certification, you can begin working with clients. Some Feng Shui practitioners work with a single client for up to six months. To develop a system for new client referrals, network with local design associations, landscapers, furniture stores, and holistic health practitioners.

  • You may want to consider specializing in a certain type of Feng Shui like Feng Shui for businesses or Feng Shui for romance.
  • You can increase your credibility and charge more for your services by becoming certified in additional areas of design. Consider becoming a licensed interior designer or professional organizer in addition to obtaining Feng Shui certification.
