Many people have turned to weight loss surgery to lose the unwanted pounds. There are many good and bad points to using this as a way to lose weight. If you are thinking about getting weight loss surgery, there are a few things that you need to do to decide if it is the right choice for you. This is not a decision that should be rushed into and no one can make the final decision besides you on getting weight loss surgery.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make an appointment to see your regular doctor to talk about weight loss surgery. Even though your regular doctor is not an expert of weight loss surgery, he knows the most about your medical background and can give you some good advice about whether there may be other options out there to help you to lose weight. You have built a level of trust with this doctor over the years so that you know that the information that you receive from him will be with your best interest in mind.

  2. Step 2

Go to a doctor that performs weight loss surgery to have a consultation. This is the doctor that can answer any questions and concerns that you have about the procedure. There are also guidelines that the doctor will use to tell you if you would qualify for the weight loss surgery. Make sure you ask every question that you have on your mind before you make the decision to get the surgery.

  3. Step 3

Do a search online to find forms and blogs written by people who have gotten the weight loss surgery that you are looking into. These people will be able to tell you first hand how the procedure was and what to expect after you are home from the doctor. They will also be able to give you their opinion if they felt that the weight loss surgery was worth it for them.

on 2/4/2009 I would heartily recommend people research and ask all the questions, because after the cutting starts, it can't be reversed! 5*
