Aid Sleep With Ear Candling

Want to get a better night's sleep without medication in less than an hour? Ear candling could be your answer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ear Candles
  • Lighter
  • Bowl of water
  • Scissors
  • Wash cloth
  • Cough Drop
  • Q-Tip
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Someone with an open mind to alternative healing
  1. Step 1

Have the person lay on either side (since both should be done).
Place wash cloth around the ear, covering the cheek and loose hair to protect against falling ash(not common).
Have client suck on a cough drop to help loosen mucous and clear the sinus/ear canals.

  2. Step 2

Light Paraffin candle until smoke comes out the bottom.
Gently insert candle directly into client's ear canal making sure not to force or ram the candle in as this can cause permanent damage.
While holding candle with one hand, use other hand to gently massage temples, under and above the eye-sockets, jaw-line, cheeks, and scalp as this will help loosen the ear wax and any sort of infectious material.
Simply hold candle in place until flame is about 3/8 down the candle.

  3. Step 3

Cut the burned portion of candle with scissors, and allow burnt portion to drop into bowl of water.
Have client look into the remaining candle portion to see how effective it is working! (The clients LOVE this part!)
Cut off end of Q-Tip to dislodge a clogged end of candle (very common).

  4. Step 4

Continue burning remaining candle about another 3/8, or until you feel the flame getting too close to your hand and the client's face.
Repeat step 3, and don't forget to show client what you just pulled from their body.
Finally, use Q-tip and rubbing alcohol to clean around client's ear canal to pick up any remaining ear wax, and to put a "close" to that ear.
Repeat all steps on other ear and watch as the client is more relaxed, hears better, feels less "clogged" and can't wait to make another appointment!

  5. Step 5

For the skeptics, critics, or people terrified of someone sticking a burning candle in their ear, I personally use this technique on my wife about once a month. I perform ear candling on her for her bad hearing, occasional ear-aches and ear infections, and for her need to release stress. My wife swears that the candles help her de-stress, hear better, feel less congested (even with a common cold), and finally sleep better for days!

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not force or jam candle into person's ear canal
  • Do not massage with much force around eyes or ears
  • Do not allow ash-end of candle to become too long as this can cause a hazard
