Successfully selecting a Personal Trainer that will help you realize and achieve your goals.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step in this process is you need to find out where they are qualified or certified through, many individuals claim to be personal trainers but in reality they are just people who themselves have had success with their personal fitness and may not know what goes into setting up a safe and successful program for another person.

  2. Step 2

The second step is you need to make sure they have liability insurance. Anyone without this insurance could secretly be telling you that they are not confident about their abilities and or programs they set up for others.

  3. Step 3

Be sure to ask them for their experience, most trainers have testimonials from individuals they have successfully worked with in the past and in some instances you could even ask to speak to a current client.

  4. Step 4

Any trainer worth their weight will ask you to fill out a health screening questionnaire, this not only protects the trainer but also protects you as a client. If they see answers that may pose problems to you successfully participating in a program they need to ask you to see a physician before they take you any further.

  5. Step 5

What most people seem to feel is the most important step in this process is the cost factor, how much is it going to cost you and what are you going to get in return. You may find yourself shopping around for a less expensive trainer but remember like most things you get what you pay for so make sure you a certain that they are capable and well educated in the field of fitness.

  6. Step 6

The final step before making the selection is take into consideration the personality of your prospective trainer. Do you feel this individual can push you and motivate you to be successful? That is the ultimate goal, you are there for results not to become friends. However, I have become friends with most of my clientele, but they also see results.
