A School Bus Driver Do's and Don'ts for Children and Parents

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A good warm coat in the winter. They can always take it off and put in their book bags. If they forget their coat ask the bus diver if they can move to a seat closer to the heater.
  1. Step 1

Be prepared to be on a school bus schedule. The first week of school is usually a good indication of when to expect the bus each morning and afternoon.Meet your school bus driver, tell them your child's name and yours too and if you have a preference of where you want your child to sit.

  2. Step 2

Call School Bus Transportation for route information and pick-up and drop-off times. We keep schedules to get children there in time to eat breakfast, for early morning tutoring, and for other reasons. Children like schedules!!So do school bus drivers!!

  3. Step 3

Go over with your child school bus rules and regulations. The first and most important rule is to always sit down facing the front. Some states require seat belts but some do not. Talk quietly ,no eating or drinking and please, please listen to your bus driver. The bus driver will inform your child what to do in the event of an emergency.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wait with your children for the school bus.Be there when the school bus brings them home!!!
  • Do not let your child move from your side until the school bus is stopped and red lights are Flashing! Warn them when the bus pulls away, to never chase after the bus.

on 2/4/2009 I have driven a school bus for 10+yrs.It is a wonderful job if you love children and have school age children of your own as your work schedule goes hand in hand with their school schedules.
