You will learn how to make the perfect mashed potatoes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Potatoes
  • Salt
  • Cream cheese
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Saucepan
  • Potato Masher/hand mixer
  • Knife
  1. Step 1

    **serves 4-6 people

    Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters.
Place the potatoes in a medium to large sized saucepan and add enough water to cover the potatoes.

  2. Step 2

Place the saucepan on the stove and turn on high.
Cover pan but leave enough room for steam to escape if necessary.
Bring the potatoes to a boil.
    Lower the heat to medium/low.
Cook the potatoes until they are soft. You should be able to put a fork through them very easily.
Cooking time is usually between 20-30 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Drain the potatoes but leave them in the saucepan.
Stir in one package of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of milk and 1 stick of butter. You can also use sour cream instead of cream cheese.
Mash the potatoes until there are no lumps remaining, using either a hand potato masher or an electric hand mixer.
Serve them while they are still hot.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful when pouring water out of potatoes for the steam will be very hot.
