Things You'll Need:
- Raw Macadamia Nuts
- shallow pan for roasting
- 350 degree oven
- salt (optional)
-
Step 1
Place nuts in a shallow pan no more than two deep (whole kernels or halves only) so that they may roast evenly. Be sure to separate crowded areas to minimize overlapping.
-
Step 2
Roast 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Watch carefully and remove from the oven as soon as they start to turn a golden tan color. Be very careful not to burn the nuts. You really need to give this step your full attention.
-
Step 3
After roasting, salt if desired while macadamias are still warm. This will enable the salt to adhere better to the nuts. Allow them to cool completely and then store in airtight containers. Nuts may be stored up to 6 months in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. I find that my pantry is perfect for storing nuts. Nuts may also be frozen.
