Step 1
Ensure the label indicates that the organic beauty products are “organic” and not just “made with organic ingredients,” which indicates that they're not all-natural. Organic ingredients on the label of the skin care treatment should fall in the first third of the list.
-
Step 2
Study the ingredient label to check for chemicals blended into the “organic” skin care treatment during the manufacturing process. If you find some items difficult to pronounce, they may be synthetic preservatives and emulsifiers or artificial fragrances and colorings that definitely nullify the organic beauty product's all-natural status.
-
Step 3
Find organic beauty products that feature the USDA organic certification, which indicates that the skin care treatment has received National Organic Program certification. Get organic beauty products with the seal either labeled “100 percent organic” (if they completely organic ingredients) or “organic” (with at least 95 percent organic ingredients). Other certifications that indicate at least 95% organic skin care products include Australian Certified Organic, European Union/Agriculture Biologique or Bio/Germany.
-
Step 4
Opt for “certified organic” skin care treatments over items with “all natural” labels. Even if skin care treatments feature completely natural ingredients, like an avocado lotion, the organic beauty products will still receive the all natural distinction even if the avocados were treated with chemicals and pesticides before production.
