Keep your finger nails hydrated. A dry, brittle finger nail will break more easily. If you keep your them hydrated, you can make your fingernails grow longer. Do this by massaging them with oil every night. You can do this with olive oil, or buy a manicure oil from O.P.I. or Sally Hansen.

Protect your fingernails. When you're doing housework, use rubber gloves. The gloves will keep your fingernails from being broken, and will protect them from harmful, drying chemicals that could cause breakage. Never use your finger nails to open soda cans, or to pry anything open. Taking care to not abuse them will make your finger nails grow longer.

You are correct a balanced good diet makes finger nails and hair grow. If that comes to a stop, your body misses some nourishment. Good topic, thanks. -

Thanks for the tips. My nails grow about 1/4 inch and break off. I don't want long nails but it would be nice to keep them between 1/4 & 1/2 inch long. I'll try the oil too. That will help with my dry cuticles. 5*
