Step 1
A dry and moisture-deprived environment can easily cause nosebleeds. Investing in a humidifier will help moisten your mucous membranes to prevent nosebleeds and also decrease your chances of getting a cold or virus. Keeping your nasal passages and mucous membranes moist helps you fight off bacteria and viruses that can get you sick.
-
Step 2
Another way to prevent nosebleeds is to drink plenty of water to keep the mucous membranes in your nose moist. You can even use saline sprays to moisten the inner lining of the nasal passages.
-
Step 3
Although there are many ways to stop a nosebleed, the most effective way in stopping nosebleeds is to pinch your nostrils together for about 15 seconds. Repeat this step until your nose stops bleeding. After the nosebleed stops, avoid blowing your nose or doing anything that might trigger another nosebleed.
-
Step 4
Remember, reoccurring nosebleeds might be a more serious sign that needs to be thoroughly examined by a physician. If a nosebleed fails to stop despite trying the methods above, seek medical attention immediately.
