Valentine's day got you down this year? Here are some thoughts on how to turn that around to create the best Valentine Day ever!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your eyes to read this
  • An open mind :)
  1. Step 1

Realize that Valentine’s Day ain’t always what it’s cracked up to be. The obligatory flowers and dinner amidst hectic schedules, or the feeling of emptiness if you don’t have someone special to share it with can make it one of the least favorite holidays for many. A friend disdainfully said that “Valentine’s Day is just a commercialized ploy to make us feel miserable, and unless you’re in a brand new relationship it’s pretty much worthless.”

  2. Step 2

Understand the true meaning of Valentine's Day. It's not about outer love at all. The true joy Valentine’s Day is found in practicing SELF-LOVE. Which means finding that feeling within yourself that makes you feel appreciated, valued, and special!! And you do that by creating a SELF-LOVE experience around a day that is dedicated to LOVE. It’s fun and will make you feel absolutely wonderful!!

  3. Step 3

Creating a self-love experience is all about celebrating YOU! It is giving yourself a present or special experience that is from you, to you and only FOR YOU. If you have a special someone in your life, invite them to do the same. That way when you come together at the end of the day you have stories to trade and can share the excitement of SELF-LOVE with one another…creating a stronger bond of love between you. And if you don’t have anyone special this Valentine’s day that’s ok….YOU ARE SPECIAL IN YOUR OWN RIGHT!! Tomorrow you can tell your friends, family, co-workers what a wonderful day you had and smile as they are awed by the wonderful being you are!

  4. Step 4

So how do you do it? Simple. Think about what you want from someone else to make you feel really special and then give yourself that gift. Send flowers to yourself at work from “your biggest fan.” Schedule a massage or facial. Hire a sitter for the evening and enjoy a bubble bath and a good book. Buy something you’ve been wanting. Take off work early for some you time. The list goes on and on. The only rules are that:

    1. it has to be something YOU want – not anybody else
    2. it has to make you feel really special
