A Feng Shui consultant is someone who specializes in using the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui to bring harmony to a space. Like any ancient system that has had ages to develop, the principles of Feng Shui can be rather difficult to apply if you are not overly familiar with Eastern traditions. Luckily for us lay people, Feng Shui consultants can help us interpret how Feng Shui can improve our lives. Feng Shui consultants are well-trained in the ancient art of placement, and they can advise clients on how to create wealth, success, and happiness through the use of Feng Shui cures.

1. THINK. Before you even decide to find a Feng Shui consultant, you should first consider which areas of your life you would like to improve. Would you like to get a promotion at work? Do you want to make more money? Do you want to find your soulmate? If you desire something in particular, a Feng Shui consultant can help you to attain your specific goal. Jot down some notes about your goals and desires as these will help you to interview potential consultants.

2. RESEARCH. After you’ve decided which changes you’d like to see in your life, start your search. Fire up your internet browser and search for Feng Shui consultants in your city. You may have to search for consultants in the nearest big city if you live in a rural area. Jot the names and numbers of a few consultants down in list form. 3. CALL. It’s important that you check out the credentials of your potential consultants. Get on the phone with each potential consultant and ask about his or her background. It’s important that you feel comfortable speaking to the consultant; so if you get a bad vibe, move on to the next name on your list. A reputable Feng Shui consultant will have training from a Feng Shui school, so be sure to also ask about the consultant’s training, typical clientele, and the amount of time they have been practicing.

4. OPEN UP. Understand that every Feng Shui consultant has a specialty or talent within the art of Feng Shui. Some specialize in bringing success to businesses while others focus on home decorating, or even health. Feng Shui can be applied to many areas of life. After you find a Feng Shui practitioner you feel good about, tell him or her about your life goals. Ask how he or she could help you achieve your specific goals. Don’t be afraid to ask a Feng Shui practitioner to refer you to former clients if you’d like to hear testimonials.

• If your internet search for a Feng Shui consultant yields poor results, you may want to try getting a referral from a local herbalist or acupuncturist.
• If you don't get a good vibe when talking to a Feng Shui consultant, politely pass on his or her services. It's important that you develop a good relationship with your practitioner.
