Running a home is a full time job whether you stay at home, work from home or have an outside of the home career. So to make the job easier, many families are turning to having a home management binder similar to a planner that you would use for a career. Things that you can add to these binders are your families schedule, weekly menu plans, to do lists, gift ideas, medical information, monthly budget, school schedules, children's activity schedules, cleaning schedules or whatever else you need to run your family.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3- ring binder
  • 3- hole punch
  • tabbed page dividers
  • printer
  • internet
  • Stuff to decorate front of binder
  1. Step 1

Get a binder and decorate it however you want. Make it fit your personality so you will want to use it often. I used some of my scrapbooking materials to decorate mine.

  2. Step 2

Figure out what you want in it. There are many places on the internet that you can print out forms for your home management binder for free or for a small fee. I will include some of these in my resources down below. One form set I particularly like is from Motivated Moms. It helps you organize what cleaning and household things you need to get done. You can buy the weekly set or the daily set, each are only $8 and then you print them out on your computer. Each day it "assigns" different tasks to get done. One day it may remind you to change the towels, clip your child's fingernails, strip the bed and dust the bedroom. The next day it may remind you to clean the refrigerator, dust the living room and clean all the light switches. It's an excellent reminder tool.

  3. Step 3

After you figure out what you want in your binder, print them out. Separate the types of pages you have into categories and write the categories onto the tabbed page dividers.

  4. Step 4

3- hole punch the pages and put them into your binder with the correct pages behind each tabbed page divider. Now start filling in the information.

  5. Step 5

Don't forget to look at the resources below for additional information. You may also what to look at the related articles that are to the sides of this article.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful of the information you store in your binder. If you plan to take your binder out of the house or if you have a lot of house guests or childcare workers in your home, do not store any information that could be used by a identity thief.
