Southern Sweet Tea
Southern Sweet Tea

I am a Southern gal at heart and heritage. I live in Oregon, but crave that Southern good cooking. One of my favorites from the South is Sweet Tea! There is nothing like it on a hot day or sharing with some friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 to 5 Family sized Tea Bags (I use either Lipton's or Luzianne)
  • 2 to 4 Cups Water
  • 1 to 2 Cups Sugar
  • Pinch of Baking Soda (optional)
  1. Step 1

The use of the above ingredients will depend on how sweet you like your tea and how much you wish to make.

  2. Step 2

If you like it sweet and want to make a medium sized amount, use 3 tea bags, 2 cups water with 1 to 2 cups sugar. You may want to taste test as you mix in the sugar.

  3. Step 3

If you want more tea with less sweetness, use 4 cups of water, with 1 3/4 cups sugar. Experiment with the amounts to see what you like best.

  4. Step 4

The optional baking soda will take out any bitterness of the tea. It does not affect the taste.

  5. Step 5

Bring water to a boil. If using baking soda, add it now. Add your tea bags. Lower the heat to a light simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Remove from heat. Pour into a pitcher. If using a glass pitcher, wait about 5 minutes for cooling. Add sugar and stir. If your pitcher is not full, fill with cold water.

  7. Step 7

You can serve now with ice cubes. For best results, let sit overnight.

  8. Step 8

For garnishment, add a strawberry or lemon to the rim of the glass.

This is so good. I am sure you, your family and friends will enjoy this Sweet Tea for years to come.

Tips & Warnings
  • For variety: add raspberry, strawberry, lime or lemon juice or syrup.
  • Add your favorite Frozen Berries as ice cubes.
