Macs are known for their stability and creative software. However, most businesses and school use Windows. This has prevented many from purchasing Macs. However, you can run both Windows and Mac OS X on the same Mac now. It's the best of both worlds!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Your first option would be to get a new Mac. New Macs come with Mac OS X Leopard, which includes Boot Camp. Boot Camp allows you to install Windows Vista or Windows XP with Service Pack 2 on your Mac. Windows then runs in a separate partition on your hard drive. You will need to reboot to switch between Windows and Mac OS X. There is a link to Boot Camp information in the resources section below.

  2. Step 2

Another option is to get Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac. You will need to be running at least Mac OS X v10.4.11 (Tiger) or later on your Intel Core Duo Mac. You can install Windows XP or Vista using Parallels. You do not need to reboot to switch between Windows and Mac OS X. In fact, you can even drag and drop files between them.

  3. Step 3

VMWare Fusion 2 is another way to run Windows on your Mac. Like Parallels, you need Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later. You can install Windows XP or Vista and do not need to reboot to switch between them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Macs are not prone to viruses, but, if you are running Windows on your Mac, virus protection is recommended.
