Things You'll Need:
- empty lip balm pots or tubes
- Aloe Butter
- Almond Oil
- Jojoba Oil
- Shea Butter
- Beeswax
- Vitamin E Oil
- essential oils of your choice
- eye dropper or pipette
-
Step 1
Most of these ingredients are available at your local health food store, Whole Foods Market, or online. Do a Google Search for the ingredients and order them. Try to find one site that has all that you need. All ingredients aid in fast healing of dry, cracked lips. Most drug store brands contain petroleum, which actually steals the moisture from your lips instead of healing them.
-
Step 2
Place 1.5 tsp aloe butter, 4 tsp almond oil, 1.5 tsp jojoba oil, 2.5 tsp shea butter, 1.5 tsp beeswax, and a few drops of vitamin e oil in a double boiler. Use a disposable chop stick to stir the pot while everything is melting. Heat over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally. The beeswax will melt last. When all is melted, turn off the heat.
-
Step 3
If you like your lip balm unflavored, you are done. However, if you want to add flavor, use combinations of essential oils. This secret lip balm manufacturer had such flavors as Rosemary/Lime (10 drops of each), Lemon/Lavender (20 drops lemon EO, 15 drops lavender EO), Cinnamint (20 drops Cinnamon EO, 7 drops Peppermint EO). Create your own combinations, but be sure to use essential oils. Fragrance Oils are synthetic, and not natural). Add these oils to your pot, stir well.
-
Step 4
Using a plastic disposable pipette, add your liquid balm to whatever container you choose to use. Leave the cap off until it is completely cooled. Enjoy! Experiment with your own Lip Balm creations.
