Step 1
Be sure to book your stay at Bulungula before starting the journey. There are a limited number of beds. During peak season it may be necessary to book up to a couple of weeks in advance. You can book either online through www.bulungula.com or by calling them at +27 47 577 8900. When you book your accommodations, let them know if you need a ride from Mthatha to the lodge. Unless you have a four wheel drive vehicle, you WILL need a ride to the lodge. The rest of this article is written based on the assumption that you arranged for a ride from Mthatha to the lodge.

Step 2
From Cape Town, take a bus or drive to a town called Mthatha [aka Umtata]. This part of the trip will take between 18 and 19 hours. Once in Mthatha, meet the Bulungula driver at the Shell Ultra City petrol station. He will bring you to the lodge, which will take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours depending on driving conditions.

From Johannesburg, take a bus or drive to a town called Mthatha. It will take about 12-13 hours. Once there, meet the Bulungula driver at the Shell Ultra City petrol station. He will bring you the rest of the way, which will take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours.
