Step 1
Start early. Most yearbook publishing companies need to have everything done quite early in order to have them all printed in time. Keep a notebook with you and write down all the yearbook story ideas that come to you over the course of your school experience. Mark each one with various plot points and memorable aspects in order to keep them fresh in your mind.
-
Step 2
Consider the school year itself. Have there been any major events at your school over the course of the year? Did anything particularly interesting or unusual happen? Have any new clubs formed that have made a particular impact on the school or the students? A thousand events happen every day in a typical school, and most of them would make for interesting yearbook story ideas.
-
Step 3
Think about the other students in your school. Have any of them triumphed over major adversity, whether it be defeating a terrible disease or overcoming a major downturn in their personal lives. Every student is a potential gold mine of drama and information.
-
Step 4
Give a survey to the student body and tabulate the results. Have it focus on current events, local points of interest, or modern politics. There are endless yearbook story ideas utilizing this method because there are endless combinations of questions that you can ask. Depending on the method of yearbook publishing you choose, you may be able to include several of these in place of a single article.
-
Step 5
Have multiple students give their observations of a single event or concept. Again, the yearbook story ideas are endless because of how many events take place over the course of the school year.
