Getting a spray on tan is a great alternative to laying in a tanning bed or sitting outside in the sun. The only thing about a spray on tan is that they don't last as long as a real tan does. Over a couple of days, the tan will start to fade. Here are some ways that you can make your spray on tan last longer for you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Exfoliate your entire body before you get your spray on tan. Exfoliating your skin will help the spray on tan to go on even instead of being streaky or being discolored around the areas of your elbows, knees and ankles. This will also help the tan to stick to your skin better because you are removing the dead skin from your body, so the tan has a better chance of staying on longer due to it being on the healthy skin and not the dead cells.

  2. Step 2

Don't put on any lotion before you get your spray on tan. This means that it you intend on getting a spray on tan that day, do not even put on your regular after-shower lotion. If there is any lotion left on your body the spray on tan will not go on evenly.

  3. Step 3

Follow all the instructions that the tanning salon gives your for your spray on tan. They give your certain instructions for a reason. They want their customers to be happy with the tan and they would not steer you wrong.

  4. Step 4

Lightly wipe yourself dry after your spray on tanning session. Unless you are specifically told not to towel yourself dry, it is okay to do so. You may see some color coming off on the towel, but it is not the tanner that makes you darker that is coming off.

  5. Step 5

Don't exfoliate your skin while you have your spray on tan. The next time you should exfoliate is when you are going for your next spray on tan session.

  6. Step 6

Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize some more. Invest in a good body lotion that will keep your skin moisturized and healthy. If your skin gets too dry, your spray on tan is going to fade much faster. If you keep your body moisturized then you can retain that healthy glow on your skin for longer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Unless you want to be paying $25-$30 every couple of days for a spray on tan, then follow the instructions above to save you money. By following the above instructions you can make your spray on tan last 100 times longer.
