Herbal tea is very popular for its health benefits and soothing and refreshing flavors. I have some ideas for very simple and lovely herbal teas from your own herb garden or herbs from the store.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Herbs
  • Hot water
  • Kettle, pan, or French press
  • Favorite Mug
  • Honey or sweetener if desired
  1. Step 1

Making tea is easier then you may think. If you know how to boil water, you can do it! Simply pour boiling water over herbs and let steep. Drain out herbs before drinking. (This is where a French press comes in really handy, or just use a colander.) I love to sweeten with honey, but use whatever sweetener you like, or none at all.

  2. Step 2

Here are some of my favorite tea ideas. Thyme and oregano tea is especially good for colds and killing germs, plus it is very soothing and tastes great with a little honey. Lemon thyme is a great type for this tea, but any kind is good.

  3. Step 3

Another favorite of mine which is good hot or iced is basil, rosemary and lavender tea. Add 4 or more basil leaves, a small sprig rosemary, and a couple a leaves of lavender. Very refreshing! It is my favorite summer drink.

  4. Step 4
Blueberries from my garden last year.

Add in fruit and fruit rinds as well. I often add a few blueberries, a bit of strawberry, or some citrus rind. Whatever seems good at the moment and I have on hand. A splash of lemon or cranberry juice is great too and aids in cleansing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep experimenting. You can choose herbs that aid in health or just for flavor, but often herbs do both very nicely.
  • This is fun and can save you money if you buy a lot of tea from the store.
  • Make sure you know what you are picking and putting in your tea! Herbs can be dangerous if you don't know what they are.
