Detox diets have become a popular way to manage weight and take care of our bodies. This is a relatively easy 14-day detox that doesn't require you to drink cayenne pepper or anything weird like that.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • whole grains
  • green tea
  • fruits and vegetables
  • beans
  • hummus
  • nuts
  • rice crackers
  1. Step 1

the first day of the detox is a fast. you can have water with lemon and green tea if you like, but no food for 24 hours. this is the hardest part, but it will set you up to succeed with the detox.

  2. Step 2

for the next 13 days you should cut out all meat (including eggs), wheat products (bread, pasta, etc), dairy products (milk, yogurt, cheese, butter), refined sugars and artificial sweeteners, excess fats (go easy on the olive oil), excess salt, and starchy vegetables like corn and potatoes. replace these items with lots of fruits and vegetables, other whole grains (oats, brown rice, quinoa, barley, millet), natural sweeteners like agave or honey, spices (cinnamon, cumin, tumeric, rosemary, sage are all very good) and beans and nuts for protein.

  3. Step 3

try to stick to balanced meals so you arent hungry. here's a sample day's meal:
    breakfast: non-dairy fruit smoothie
lunch: rice and beans and a small salad
snack: apple and some raw almonds
    dinner: steamed veggies with quinoa
    dessert: fruit and tea

Tips & Warnings
  • avocados are a great source of natural healthy fats, as are nuts and olives
  • nut butters like almond or cashew butter are a great snack with a sliced apple
  • freeze grapes for a satisfying, delicious dessert
  • none of this is intended to cure or prevent a disease, and you should consult with a health professional before changing your diet.
