Believe it or not it is possible to decorate a baby's room and make it perfect even on a tight budget. It takes a lot of money nowadays to afford bringing a baby into the world and this can make it hard on new parents to afford things. One good thing, though is that it is not necessary to spend a lot of money on a baby's room to make it just how you want it.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Paint the baby's bedroom to add color to it. Most gallons of paint cost anywhere from $12-$25. It will not take you more than one gallon of paint to paint all the walls in a baby's room. This is a cheap way to stay on budget but add some color to the room. Also, check out your local hardware paint section of discounted paints. These are the paints that people have returned because they are the wrong color or the paint that was made the customer was not happy with the color that they picked. They are perfectly good paints but you can get them for up to 50% off what it would normally cost you.

  2. Step 2

Shop at local garage and yard sales for baby items. Look for dressers, changing tables, and even decorations to put on the walls. You may be able to find some great items that can be refurbished to match your baby's room. Just be careful when buying cribs as they have to meet certain safety standards.

  3. Step 3

Buy a wallpaper border for the baby's room. You may be able to find cheaper wallpaper borders at paint and wallpaper stores or in the clearance section of a hardware store. You only have to buy one roll, which you can find as cheap as $3. Also, look online at baby supply websites in the clearance section and also at stores like Target and Wal-Mart in the clearance sections for border for your baby's room.

  4. Step 4

Use your creativity. If you know how to draw or paint well, then choose one or two walls in the baby's room and make your mark. Draw a fairy tale scene for a girl's baby room or a jungle for a baby boy's room. You can also purchase stencils or stamps that are inexpensive that you can use to decorate the walls of the baby's room. Be sure to look out for sales on these items to fit them in your tight budget.

  5. Step 5

Avoid purchasing an expensive bedding set for the crib. Doctors actually tell new parents that the only thing that should be in the crib is a fitted sheet. So, why do you need bumpers and a huge comforter if they can't even go in the crib with the baby. Instead just buy an inexpensive fitted sheet in the theme or color-scheme of the baby's room for the crib. If you want you can look for an inexpensive baby blanket from a discount store and hang that on the edge of the crib. Buying a $500 crib set is a waste of money and will set you way over your tight budget.

  6. Step 6

Look online for coloring pages that you can print out from your computer and paint to use as decorations in your baby's room. There are plenty of free coloring pages that you can find online that you can use in a baby's room. Simply paint the image or objects and either frame them and hang them on the walls or cut them out and use them as decals on the walls of the baby's room.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get creative. You would be surprised at what you may have lying around the house that you can use to decorate your baby's room on a tight budget.
