How to Make Natural Carpet Cleaner with Vinegar

Things You'll Need

• Carpet Shampooer
• Vinegar
• Water

Instructions

1. Fill the tank of your carpet shampooer most of the way with very hot water. Add vinegar. You'll want the proportion to be about 2 cups vinegar to one gallon water. You can put the vinegar into the cleaning solution tank or in the water tank. You can also add about half a cup of Borax or Washing Soda to help with the cleaning process. It's as simple as that to make natural carpet cleaner with vinegar.

2. Before shampooing your carpet, be sure to test a small area to ensure the solution will not harm your carpet. This solution is fine for use on most carpets, and you can even use it for upholstery if you so choose.

3. Shampoo your carpets as usual, as you would with commercial cleaner. The vinegar smell will dissipate as soon as the carpets are dry. In fact, vinegar is good for absorbing smells. Vinegar is also good at getting any stains out of the carpet that you may have. You may need to go over the stains a couple times in order to ensure they are completely gone.

4. If you'd like to, you can use the carpet shampooer another time using plain water. This is not necessary, but some prefer to do it this way. You will most likely be pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this method!
