Students can find grants and financial aid information through FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) and other resources.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check The FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) web site, which has an abundant amount of information on grants and financial aid for students. They can help you through the process of applying for financial aid as well.

  2. Step 2

Look at the three categories of federal financial aid; grants, work-study and loans. Grant money does not have to be repaid. Work-study programs provide jobs to students as a way to get money to pay their education expenses. Loans vary in amounts and eligibility requirements.

  3. Step 3

Search for Federal student aid. This is financial assistance available through the U.S. Department of Education. This covers expenses such as room and board, tuition, books, supplies, fees and transportation. It may also help with money needed for computer costs and child expenses.

  4. Step 4

Not all schools participate in grants or the federal student aid programs, so be sure to check with your school's financial aid office.

  5. Step 5

Financial aid might also be available from other sources such as grants or aid through your state government, school or private scholarships, so be sure to check for these sources as well.

  6. Step 6

See the resources section below for the link to the FAFSA web site for more information.
