The use of masks for skin care can be traced back to ancient civilizations who believed that specific types of mud and clay had healing properties when applied to the body. Today, masks can be made from many different ingredients, depending on the skin type. Use this method to make a natural skin care mask for dry skin, followed by a nourishing oil facial massage.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh applesauce
  • Raw wheat germ
  • Washcloth
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Towels
  1. Step 1

Combine applesauce and wheat germ. Mix thoroughly and allow the mixture to thicken for five minutes, or until the wheat germ begins to absorb the apple sauce juice.

  2. Step 2

Wash face and throat with a mild, natural face cleanser. Allow the skin to air dry and apply the skin care mask to damp skin. Do not dry with a towel.

  3. Step 3

Wrap hair in a towel to prevent it from getting into the mask. If you have short hair, pull it back with a headband or bandana. Apply the mixture directly to the face and throat, applying in an upward motion beginning at the throat.

  4. Step 4

Leave on for at least twenty minutes. Remove the mask with a warm, wet washcloth.

  5. Step 5

Massage the sweet almond oil directly onto the face and throat in gentle, circular motions. Continue the massage for five minutes. Towel dry and enjoy your warm, glowing skin!

Tips & Warnings
  • If sweet almond oil is not available, you can substitute wheat germ oil or jojoba oil instead.
  • If the idea of making your own mask every time you want to use it doesn’t appeal to you, try popular brands of pre-made natural skin care masks such as Origins Skin rejuvenating sheet mask. Check out some reviews of this product. It’s one of the best I’ve ever used, and it’s organic!
  • This skin care mask does not store. Make one treatment as a time, as needed.
  • Do not apply the mask to the delicate eye area to avoid irritation.
