How to Make Chinese Chicken Wings (Microwave)

Create Chinese style chicken wings in your microwave. There are a number of recipes for Chinese chicken wings, but this easy version is marinated in honey, mustard, orange juice sesame seed, ginger and salt. This is a delicious appetizer any time, especially on game day! Keep your guests content while busy in the kitchen.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 Chicken Wings
  • 1/4 Cup Honey
  • 1/4 Cup Mustard
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Orange Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Sesame Seed
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 Orange, Cut Into Wedges
  • Salt
  • 2-Quart Glass Baking Dish
  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • Wax Paper
  1. Step 1

    Cut off wing tips of chicken and cut wings in half at the joint. Salt both sides of the wings.

    Place wings in a 2-Quart (12 x 7) glass baking dish; set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Combine remaining ingredients, except orange wedges and parsley, in small mixing bowl. Pour half of mixture over wings and cover with wax paper.

  3. Step 3

    Microwave for 6 minutes on HIGH. Turn chicken over and brush with the remaining sauce. Recover and continue cooking for 6 to 7 minutes, on HIGH, or until chicken is tender with a fork.

  4. Step 4

    Let stand, covered, for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with orange wedges and parsley. Makes 24 Appetizers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Covering with wax paper holds in the steam which helps speed cooking.
  • This time to cook in the microwave will need to be adjusted depending on the watts of your microwave and the elevation you are located. This recipe was made using a 1000 watt microwave.
  • Despite common beliefs, you should NOT rinse your poultry. In fact, rinsing it increases the risk of cross-contamination in your home.
  • In the microwave: Follow a recipe for temperature and setting, stirring or rotating to be sure there are no cold spots.
