Do you love carnitas? This boiled and roasted pork meat is delicious. For a new spin on a traditional carnitas recipe, try following the steps in this article.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An onion or two
  • 2 to 3 pounds of pork meat
  • One clove of garlic
  • A teaspoon of cumin
  • A handful of cilantro
  • A large can of beer
  • An oven
  1. Step 1

Chop an onion or two in quarters and place in a pot on the stovetop.

  2. Step 2

Mince a clove or two of garlic or press them with a garlic press and add to the pot.

  3. Step 3

Chop 2-3 pounds of pork into bite sized pieces and add to the pot. Traditionally, it's fine to use meat on the bone, but in this case we'll just use boneless pork.

  4. Step 4

Add a teaspoon of cumin to the mix and follow it with a good handful of chopped cilantro.

  5. Step 5

Pour in a large can of beer. Bring to a boil and then let simmmer for about 45-50 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Drain and remove the meat to an oven-safe, no-stick pan. Roast on medium heat for 45 to 50 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with warm tortillas with salsa verde or with mexican rice
  • This is by no means a traditional carnitas recipe, but will still result in a tasty taco filling.
