If you are a Mom it is a great idea to start a book club for Moms! You can match the club to the current age range of your children. Even if you are just now expecting, start a book club with other Mom's-to-be! Motherhood is a joyous, although sometimes frightening, experience. There are books to read on every conceivable topic. Why not get together with other women who are also going through the experience and have some great discussion?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Friends
  • Ideas
  1. Step 1

Invite other women to join. They may be trying to get pregnant, already pregnant, or have infants, toddlers, preschoolers, etc. Send an e-mail or a flyer to them and ask them if they are interested in joining a book club for Moms.

  2. Step 2

Set a date and for your first meeting. Before this initial meeting, have the first book you will read already selected.

  3. Step 3

You can hold the meeting in your home, a restaurant, church, meeting room or anywhere else.

  4. Step 4

At the first meeting decide, as a group, on a recurring date and time for the meetings to be held. This can be weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, etc. Also decide on the location of the meetings. Will they rotate between homes? Or be held at the same location each time?

  5. Step 5

Announce the first book that you have chosen and then discuss how they will be chosen going forward. You can take turns choosing titles, have a set title list already in place or designate someone to choose all of the books.

  6. Step 6

Also discuss how the books will be acquired. Will you get them from the library? Buy them at a bookstore? Order them online? If you choose to order online from a site such as Amazon.com, it's good idea to order them all together to save on shipping (or get free shipping).

  7. Step 7

Decide if there will be refreshments at your meetings. Coffee and breakfast? Appetizers? Lunch? Dinner?

  8. Step 8

A good example (one of many!)of how this would work is: Each month a different person hosts the meeting in her home. This particular group meets at 10am. Therefore, the host prepares coffee and provides bagels, doughnuts and pastries. The previous month’s host (the one who chose the book) leads the discussion. At the end of the meeting the current hostess announces the new title to read and they make arrangements to order the book.

  9. Step 9

This book club for Moms with kids of the same age can last a lifetime! It will turn into a wonderful group for advice and encouragement.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can create a group at work, church, or just of friends.
  • Make sure to get a variety of topics to read about.
  • To find great lists of motherhood topics just do a search on Amazon.com.
