As a preventive treatment and cure of hoof Thrush and the ailments caused by the thrush infection I have used this mixture for years. First mix 1 oz of Lysol disinfectant and one quart of water in a spray bottle.
Clean the hoof well with hoof pick. the hoof picks with a brush on the other side work best. Spray Lysol mixture well until the underside is completely soaked, do not spray outside of hoof wall, then use your favorite hoof polish on the outside of hoof. This will prevent Thrush bacteria manifesting infection and will eliminate any further outbreaks. If Thrush is active apply everyday until clear of odor. As a preventive step this should be done about once a week with regular hoof picking, proper diet and polishing to maintain quality hoof health.
Avoid the use of Bleach and chlorine products, these products are ineffectual against Thrush and will dry the hoof of moister required for proper hoof health.
