How to Work Part Time as a 2010 Census Taker

The 2010 census is upon us and with it comes a great opportunity for part time work. The US census bureau is hiring people to work part time beginning early 2009 through the completion of the census in 2010. The hours are flexible and the pay is competitive. If you want to work from home, work part time or supplement your full time income, this opportunity is worth checking into.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the US Census Bureau website and use their interactive map or call 1-866-861-2010 to find a local census office.

    • 2

You can download the application from the website or pick one up at the local census office. Fill out the application and Employment Eligibility Verification form or I-9. The I-9 form is just to verify that you can legally work in the United States.

Once you have filled out the forms, call your local census office and make an appointment to take the employment test. This test is used to make sure that you have the basic skills necessary to work part time as a census taker. You can find a sample test on the Census Bureau website.

Before you can work as a census taker, you will need to go through a basic background check to make sure that you don't have a criminal record. You will also need to have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
