Learn how to find and get cheap tickets for a Broadway show.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Student Id (useful but not necessary)
  1. Step 1

Select a show that you wish to see.

  2. Step 2

    Go to http://www.playbill.com/celebritybuzz/article/82428.html

  3. Step 3

Find the show you have selected and look at their student rush policy.

  4. Step 4

If the policy is a simple student rush, you can show up at the box office at the time it says and purchase tickets with a student ID. Playbill.com normally says if you can get two tickets or only one. Tickets normally cost 26.50, and must be in cash.

  5. Step 5

If the policy is a lottery policy, you show up at the place specified, normally the box office and fill out a slip of paper with you name and number of tickets wanted. You put the slip in a bucket and wait for them to draw out names to fill the specified number of seats. Tickets normally cost 26.50 and must be in cash. You must also have a photo ID to show or you will forfeit the tickets.

  6. Step 6

If there is no rush or lottery you can try Standing Room Only or SRO. These are only sold if the show is sold out and normally cost 26.50.

  7. Step 7

If there are no SRO tickets you can try the TKTS booth, located in the center of Times Square under the new raised bleachers. It is technically in what is called Duffy Square, located inside Times Square. These tickets are cash, traveler's checks, or credit cards. They are mostly half priced tickets so for a Broadway show range from 26.50 - 56.50.

  8. Step 8

All the above methods can only be done on the day of the show.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always have cash, a student id, and if necessary a photo id.
  • Only can be done on the day of the performance.
  • Tickets can run out quickly for popular shows.
  • Wicked's lottery normally attracts 100+ people
